This site is dedicated to the brave civilians who fought alongside the Marines
stationed on Wake Island at the onset of WW II. Hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US installations on Wake also came under Japanese attack. Between December 8 and December 23, 1941, the civilian workers on the island put their lives on the line for each other to resist the attacking forces.
They were also imprisoned along with their military counterparts in Japanese prison camps for 3 years and 9 months. Many of them did not come home.
The example of these heros has been an inspiration to those who know their story and deserves the honor and admiration of a grateful nation.
They have created a great legacy and this is a place where family, friends and other persons can celebrate and document that legacy. It is also a place of gathering for those Survivors who are still with us to share their feelings, stories, pictures and anything else related to this life altering experience.
